The End of an Era!

Lil' Red is warming up his vocal cords.

And I am licking my chops in anticipation.

Yes, the day has FINALLY arrived. The LAST Nebraska/Oklahoma game is tonight! And as an older fellow I am quite fond of HISTORY and OU/NU is an historical rivalry!

But this game also has a great deal of pawsonal meaning for me as my best brindle gal, Mayzie, is on the wrong side on this one!

We are Montagues and Capulets! Torn apart by our loyalty to our Red Families!

And to think, Mayzie, you are siding with the Boomer Sooners instead of this depawaire gentleman in his best Husker prep wear! Well, after tonight the Big 12 will be no more and we can go back to be bestie brindle buds. But tonight GO BIG RED!!!!!

And now some happy memories from the past:

Go Huskers! Do it for Wally!

*Ma ape says I must apologize for using so many exclamation points because I am not Friedrich Nietzsche. But I am just! so! excited! I haven't snored this loud in ages!

Football weekend!

After our smashing success with Thanksgiving dinner...

...we followed it up with a HUSKER WIN! No, a Husker DRUBBING of the Buffalos. 45-17 baby! It's enough to make a Potus roach with joy!

And this Sunday the ROUGHRIDERS are playing in the Grey Cup which would make the Saskatoonians the chompions of Canada! Me n' my gal Sophie are huge Rider fans. Mmmmhmmm.

I love them because they wear wallymelons on their heads! I will start hollowing out the wallymelons NOW! It's gonna take a big melon to fit on my melon.

The Last Annual Buffalo Hunt!

We are ready for some FOOTBALL. Today is a most exciting day as the Nebraska Cornhuskers will be hunting (Colorado) Buffalo one last time! Since our teams are both going to different con-fur-ences next year there will be no more Ralphie snacking. Ah well! We are most nervous for this game since if the Huskers win they will go to their con-fur-ence chompionship! If they lose...let's not talk about it!

We are also nervous because the Cornhuskers lost last week after getting 40 gajillion penalties called on them (many of them questionable) and this is what our coach turned into. Scary, huh? BO SMASH!

So we are getting ready by playing a little footie in our backyard. Ethel is the only one who ever gets the ball but the rest of us run around aimlessly and occasionally fall down. Like real football!

And we are practicing our wrap-up tackles! (Throw a flag on OBST! Illegal use of girth!)

Otis is on the lookout for shady referees! (He's undercover in his ref-ing stripes!)

And Edgrr might have been doing a little too much pre-gaming.*

We wrote a song for the occasion of Nebraska's last regular season game as a member of the Big 12!

To be sung to the tune of Home on the Range

Oh yes give us a home
Where no Buffalo roam
Where some Badgers and Buckeyes do play
Where there seldom are heard Tigers or Jayhawk birds
And the sun never shines on Longhorns

Home home is Big Ten!
Where the Huskers and Hawkeyes will play!
Where there seldom are heard Booming Sooners Boo Hoos
And the sun never shines on Longhorns!

*No corgis were intoxicated in the making of this post.

Football Commentary

Our resident football experts are here to illustrate the stages of mourning after Nebraska's loss Saturday to They Who Shall Not Be Named.

Anger.

Resignation.
Despair.

So today we chewed on some Bevo Bones. It went a long way toward healing.

Game of the Century!

We are training the little one.

Making him into a tuffy.
Teaching him Bo Pelini faces!

Which is something Otis most def excels at.

And why are we fired up and ready to go??? REVENGE!

Oh yes, last year the Texas Lamehorns STOLE the Big XII Championship from the Cornhuskers when they got a MIRACLE SECOND added to the clock. Grrrrrrr. But revenge will be ours today! However, Otis has been most troubled by something football related lately. One of his bestie gal pals is Mayzie. You can see how they have things in common like brindley stripes and a taste for the brewskis.

But then what is THIS??

Oh noes! She loves the Sooners and they are the traditional rivals of Otis's true love..THE HUSKERS! They are like the Montagues and Capulets! See how melancholy this makes Otis?

But then he remembered! There is still a deep bond between them. And that is HATRED OF THE LONGHORNS! Hooray! He can love Mayzie and the Cornhuskers!

And together they are on the side of good against the AXIS OF EEEEEVIL!

GO BIG BRINDLE!

Busy Bees!

I've been like superbusy. See all these toys I've had to play with! And then the visitors!

My and my brudder have been charming the HECK out of my Onkel Eric.

But obvs he has a favorite.

We have many things in common, me and my Onkel. First is that we are SUPER Husker fans! See me lounging on my Husker blanket?

And we watched the Holiday Bowl in which the Huskers KICKED some Azrizona REAR!

And we love our chow. Here I am with my pig's ear.

And with my ice creams.

And here he is with his mussels.

And me with my muscles.

And also we both love apes and here I am with my new sock monkey from my girlfriend Sam of the Brat Pack. He is a Husker Monkey because he is red. My Onkel Eric thinks he is the most awesome and this is a special message to my Onkel Eric who wants to steal my Husker Monkey--get your paws off my sock monkey you damn dirty ape!

OK, I've got to get bac to napping.

Wally's No Good Weekend

I had a terrible weekend, thanks for asking. I'll recap it. First, we had snow. But it was not enough to eat or play in, just enough to make it muddy enough so I have to get my undercarriage wiped when I come in.

And then in spite of the weather my ape went to the SPCA and these gross things were there.

And she thought it was ok to cheat on me with wee ickle puppies.

And then there were assorted failed attempts to get a Holiday Card photo.

The pictures did capture something of our spirit.

Some of us were humiliated.

Others of us maintained our dignity.

And then the worst EVER! Nebraska lost to Tex-ass by a mere 13-12 with a last minute field goal! Last weekend my Saskatchewan Roughriders lost after a last minute field goal! I curse the uprights!

Here is my sissy watching the last second of the game:

And here is my sissy showing what she would do if she ran into a Longhorn (or one of those lousy refs)

I'm going to sleep through Monday and hope that Tuesday will bring better stuff.
