The End of an Era!

Lil' Red is warming up his vocal cords.

And I am licking my chops in anticipation.

Yes, the day has FINALLY arrived. The LAST Nebraska/Oklahoma game is tonight! And as an older fellow I am quite fond of HISTORY and OU/NU is an historical rivalry!

But this game also has a great deal of pawsonal meaning for me as my best brindle gal, Mayzie, is on the wrong side on this one!

We are Montagues and Capulets! Torn apart by our loyalty to our Red Families!

And to think, Mayzie, you are siding with the Boomer Sooners instead of this depawaire gentleman in his best Husker prep wear! Well, after tonight the Big 12 will be no more and we can go back to be bestie brindle buds. But tonight GO BIG RED!!!!!

And now some happy memories from the past:

Go Huskers! Do it for Wally!

*Ma ape says I must apologize for using so many exclamation points because I am not Friedrich Nietzsche. But I am just! so! excited! I haven't snored this loud in ages!

Very Important Day!

It is VERY IMPORTANT football day when the Huskers play their Big 12 rivals the STINKY COLORADO BUFFALOES.

As you can see, the buffalo is the natural enemy of the corgador. This buffalo toy did not last long in my mouth.

I am practicing saying SUUUUUUHHHHHH for the greaterest Husker on the field.

Go Big Red! Let's eat some buffaloes!

Edited to add: Khyra reminded me that it is also the APPLE CUP (Washington Huskies vs. the Washington State Cougars) this weekend and sent me this HILARIOUS link!

SPCA Saturday! Big Red Style!

Hellloooooo!

Big Red reporting in from the SPCA where YOU could find a friend to be your best bud! Like me!

Meet one of my new best friends! This chap is Patrick--Irish Wolfhound mix! Top o' the Waterbowl to ya!

He likes potatoes and Guinness. Haha! I'm kidding. He loves to play AND is supersweet. But he is very very strong. Like ME!

This chap doesn't have a name yet but he is the brudder of the tripod from last week!

Remember Bailey the Tripod? Here she is playing with her brudder. They are both up for a good time racing. And don't count out the tripod lady. She could keep up with ME!

And check out Clifford! He's a corgi/jack russell mix. He is healing from being attacked by a lab in his home but he's still full of the sassback. Kind of like me. Except I'm not so sassy. But I am bringing sexyback.

Speaking of which! I am so excited that the Fightin' Phils are TWO games up on the Dodgy Dodgers in the NLCS. Wooooo!

I could be a Fightin' Philly! But with less fighting, more eating giant pretzels and hotdogs!

I think that now is the perfect time to adopt a new dog to watch the WORLD SERIES with! We are great at cleaning out your dip bowls and we would probably let you scratch our bellies for all 9 innings!

SPCA SUNDAY! By BIG RED!

This is unprecedented! Wally told me I could blog for TWO DAYS. (Right now he is busy working on a buffalo bone so he really has the better deal.) It's BIG RED here and I have the greatest news EVER!

I have a girlfriend! And his name is Tuchuck!

See! He really really likes me!

It was Fun Day at the SPCA and the lady came and she helped run the photo booth and the Ice Cream/Frosty Paw Social! Look at my picture advertising the photo booth! HANDSOME!

And she made liver brownies--YUM. ANd they had a Guess the Fat Cat's Weight Booth. HAHA! FatCat! His name is Capone.

And she walked adoptable dogs around then she came and got ME and I was so scared I peed and didn't want to but then I met the new love of my life! Tuchuck's sister showed people how to do agility and then Tuchuck and I SCHOOLED everybody in how to have fun!

It mostly involves running.

And more running.

And some more!

And then a little bitey face.

Chuck and Big Red 4Ever!

Wally said I need to post a picture of his commentary on the situation so that you don't forget how totes cute he is:

He also said it is Randay and that some girl named Randi wants to take me home. He said that would make it the greatest Randay EVER. He has so many girlfriends. Maybe now I can have more than ONE!

I'd settle for one home, though. I'm outie!

Love,
BIG RED.

SPCA Saturday (sponsored by BIG RED)

Hello! Do you remember ME, BIG RED? Wally said I can do his blog because he is very busy with a package from his girlfriend Sam (he's so lucky to have a girlfriend!) and watching the debate and tomorrow is SPCA Fun Day and so he has to make dog brownies! No not from dogs! For dogs!

Look at me blowing KISSES. Why don't I have a girlfriend?

This is my buddy Earl. He's real handsome so he probably has a girlfriend. You can't tell from the photo but dude is big! Like probably 80 pounds and he's totally cool. Likes playing, getting scratched, all the good stuff.

And this bud is Bargan! He came in without much fur but is totes awesome. Likes to play. Likes to run. Likes to chase his girlfriend. Or at least I imagine. I don't know. I don't have a girlfriend to chase.

Hey! This looks like Bones, right? But my friend BONES got a HOME! WOOO! He went home! This is Stick who was totes skinny just like Bones! He's prob a Boxer mix.

And here's Tango! he loves the dance! The dance of LOVE.

And this hot number is Alizee! She got to move to the adoptable side because my buddy Mikayla went home today! Alizee is totally sweet and loves all people and just wants you to see her pretty pink belly and rub it.

And yo! This is Bandit! He's a wild and crazy guy! He is prob a shepherd mix.

THIS BLOG IS INTERRUPTED FOR A MESSAGE BY OSCAR BEAN, SUPER TEEN!

Look! I'm back at the SPCA! Haha! NO I'M NOT! LOOK! It's a mini-me! She's a four month old sheppy! And she's gettin' spayed this week!

She's just like me except she's confident and has nice leash manners. She likes to sit in laps and get rubs and learned to sit like right away and she loves foods.

And she has DOOFUS FACE just like me! And I wanted a mini-me but Ethel said NO OSCARETTES! So she will have to find a different home. That's all folks!

NOW BACK TO YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED SPCA SATURdAY.

Hi! It's me Big Red again! I haven't found a home or a girlfriend yet but I will not stop looking! I am wearing my red collar and I'm hoping that a Cornhusker fan will adopt me so I can watch the Nebraska/Virginia Tech game tonight! Or maybe I could join the team! I've been practicing my running!

Pitch to Big Red!

I could totally run the option and I hear football players always have girlfriends.

Maybe Wally will be my girlfriend?

Wally Tamale's Guide to the I-90 Corridor!

I live on the I-90 Corgador, er, Corridor! Sophina La Brador's Ape is contemplating a trip down my way and asked--D.C., Philly, or Pittsburgh? I have to admit that I've never been to Pittsburgh but if it is good enough for Sherman, it is good enough for me! It is home to the favorite team of the Shermanator AND Joe Stains:

They should do something about those flaming helmets. That doesn't look safe and I'm fairly certain it violates NFL regulations.

As for D.C., this is a good time to visit because soon the Pawliticians will be heading home to campaign/raise money/plan their "End of Our Long Nightmare" parties. D.C. has lovely things to do like visit our nation's capital, the Smithsonian, Dick Cheney's Man Sized Safe, the National Gallery of Art, the Holocaust Museum, the Museum of Women in Arts, the International Spy Museum, the Newseum and the National Portrait Gallery--though I think they are no longer displaying Stephen Colbert so why would you want to go? Since it is not peak tourism time there should be hotel rooms--cheap! My ma ape had a great time when she was an intern there in the late-90s. And she didn't even get any stains on her dresses! While you are there perhaps you could restore honor and dignity to the White House!

Philly, on the other hand, has many things to offer OTHER than a depressingly high rate of violent crime. There is a nice Art Museum, the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology at Penn, ROCKY!, Cheesesteaks, Monk's, the African-American Museum, and Mayor Nutter (seriously! That's his name!) (P.S. Cheesesteaks are mingin'!) If you're into American history there's a TON of stuff like the Liberty Bell and the Constitution Center and you can visit Ben Franklin's old home and the hole in the ground where he used to poo (no word on who picked it up). And perhaps most awesome is the Mutter Museum of Medical Oddities with highlights like Grover Cleveland's secret tumor!

Philadelphia also benefits from being in close proximity to one Wally T. Corgador. You can probably read my Pee Mails from there!

Delaware also has...um....Joe Biden? Blue Hens? Toll Booths? Your ape could always come back with perhaps the greatest gift EVER!

BIG RED! He has the same haunting green eyes as Ms. La Brador. Don't you think they'd look keen together? As brother and sister, of course.

This has been Wally's Guide to the I-90 Corridor! PBS! Gimme a travel show!

SPCA Saturday!

Yesterday Tropical Storm Hanna visited and fortunately she did not bring Havoc, just loads of rain. So SPCA Saturday was damp! But not too damp to meet some new dudes!

This is Bones, an American Bulldog who was skin and bones! But now he's put on some pounds and is totes cute and is a favorite of the staff because he's very mellow and sweet. And also--snaggletooth!

This dude is a pit bull who doesn't have a name yet. He's full of vim and vigor! He needs to learn some leash manners but he's a nice dude.

This is Ghost, a teeny tiny terrier! The shirt says "Property of the Dog Pound."

And it was pouring rain but my ma ape had to get out her best bud Big Red! He's getting a little skittish at the shelter but he loves to get out and play, interrupted only by bouts of back scratching!

The many faces of Big Red! He's very excited about Big Red football and was wondering if perhaps the team could use a mascot. He will love you into submission!

All of these dogs (and more!) are available at the Delaware SPCA. Sadly they are really full right now and need to get some dogs and cats adopted!
