Goodbye 2010!

Last night we stayed up LATE to watch our Cornhuskers lose to the Huskies. Well, if they had to lose at least they lost to some dogs. (Apparently our ape went to their school. And she's still a bit thick, needs more clicker training.) It made us think that at this time last year we watched the SAME game (but the Huskers won), we were under 800 feet of snow, and we were getting ready to welcome in the new year with our Auntie Ira and Onkel Eric! How much has changed since then. We lost our Gramps and our Wally. These were not the best of times.

But we were found by....

One Otis.

And one Edgrr. And our ma ape got to meet so many of her DWB friends in July, she got to see our GranNE and our Onkel Eric for more than she has for the last decade combined, our bestie helped take care of us and still talks to us! So it was not our favorite year but it could have been worse. This year may we all make new friends, keep the old, and appreciate every minute with them!

And here's Wally's bit of advice for tackling the new year, there's no problem so big we can't...

HUMP IT!

Kiss me, I'm Otis!

'lo all! We were too busy drinking enjoying the out of doors that we forgot our Paddy's Day Post!

The sheppys were busy playing Fighting Irish dancing a lovely jig:

While I was busy supplying the tunes. Here is one of my faves because it has my name, Ms. Otis, and The Pogues:

Like their lead singer I have some awesomely gnarly teeth!

Slainte!

St. Wally's Feast!

Today is Boxing Day and also St. Stephen's Feast and my good pal Gus has written me a wonderful tune to celebrate the day on which we are to give prezzies to the less fortunate. You can find the lyrics on his blog and sing along as you look at these pictures of me enjoying my pawliday.

On Christmas Eve my Auntie Claus arrived from Sweden the North Pole and brought good cheer and prezzies for all. I felt good enough to eat a chew with both of my teeth!

And I got a new buffalo that I can wear as a snazzy faux fur coat.

Or vanquish with great relish.

And because I have been extra special good I got ANOTHER lamb leg!

Which my ma ape did butcher with great skill and flourish (and a little bit of gagging). WARNING: GRAPHIC MEATY PHOTO! And yes, that is a bloody band-aid from where she did nearly butcher a bit of her hand.

It has been much fun and also much work to keep track of my pack so I am in great need of a nap here on my nest of a monkey stick, my ma ape's coat that I pulled off the couch, and a Best Friends bag from my besties in the Brat Pack. Ahhhhh.

I hope everyone remembers the less fortunate today. My ape has purchased some bags of supplies to give to the dogs at the SPCA in honor of Gus and his mad songwriting skills. May all dogs follow in my footsteps to find wonderful new homes:

Therefore, all ye dogs, be sure,
Wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
Shall yourselves find blessing.

Waiting for Godot. No, Santa.

We are waiting for my Auntie Ira's plane to arrive so we can pick her up. I am hoping Santa is on her flight so we can cut to the chase and open our prezzies. I am very lucky this year that I have something BETTER than Santa--my girlfriends! First, my lady Randi sent me a Get Well card to help heal my ticker.

I feel better already! And then I got a WHOLE BOX of stuff from my lady Samantha. Including a red sock monkey! I have to keep my eyes on my Onkel Eric because he has been threatening to steal it. And look! A Green Wiener! And a Red Wiener! And a Bovine Stick! So much fun.

And now I need to have a little chat with Santa. Some of us have been extra good this year putting up with their obnoxious matching set of siblings:

And some of us have even been willing to snuggle with their bratty younger brudders so they are not afraid of the dark:

But don't let the sheppys apparent feigned sweetness fool you. They have been extra wild this year.

And others a bit, um, shameless:

So I'll be waiting for their coal and my wonderful prezzies, though I won't stay up too late because no matter what you bring it couldn't possibly top my wonderful friends and girlfriends!

P.S. Thank you so much Randi and Brat Pack!

Naughty and Nice

As it is the holiday season I have been making my list and checking it twice and I have been picking out some things that I want. First, the snow has reminded me how hard it is for me to keep up with peppy sheppys.

Their long legs give them a definite advantage in the snow.

So I believe I would like one of these contraptions. No, not a cat. A roomba and then I could ride around and boss them about.

Next, my Auntie Ira is coming to visit me from Sweden! I cannot wait for the meatballs and lingonberries!

And some herrings, please!

And for all my girlfriends and bromances I got you this--a steamy corgador in a snowbank:

And now I'm off to get some coal to put in the sheppy stockings!

Giving Thanks!

Hello to my bloggy friends and family! I am overexposed in this photo to wish you all a happy thanksgiving. This year I am thankful for my ticker that takes a licking and keeps on ticking. For my brudder and sister who protect me from harm, usually from myself. And for my apes who think I'm the bee's knees even when I'm stubborn and get up at 3 a.m. and even when I need my ma ape to sleep on the floor with me during the thunderstorms. I am also grateful for all of my friends who leave me wonderful comments (and especially my girlfriends and my bromances) even when I'm lazy and can't get around to visiting everyone. And I am also grateful for a new Thanksgiving tradition we started this year...

Lambs and yams! My ma ape has been meaning to get me something special-like for the holidays and this year she got me A LAMB LEG!

Look at Oscar! He's squinching his eyes so he can open them up and be sure he's not dreaming.

Here's a perspective photo so you can see how big the leg is (or, conversely, how short I am). Ma ape, I think the leg goes the other way round.

Here it is cut up and in our dinner bowls--lambs and yams!

Yup--that's the Wally bowl! With my lamb prepared just how I like it--RAW!

Ethel enjoyed hers.

Oscar is ecstatic.
I could have nommed all day on that leg!

And this is what apes eat:

It is tofurkey and mushroom gravies and stuffings and yamnapples and brussels sprouts. And also champagne from Washington state which is also where my ma ape found me.

I hope everyone had a thanksgiving as wonderful as mine.

Wall-O-Ween!

Yesterday was one of the greaterest holidays--Wall-O-Ween! Dedicated to being scary and begging for snacks. That's like a regular day for me. Here are some things that happened at my house.

My GranNE sent us a punkin carving pattern for a Jack Bo Lantern. That's Bo Pelini, coach of the Huskers!

And our yard was totally spooky. It scared some little kids, in fact. And that was before me n' my sibs shouted at them!

And then a mob ran through our neighborhood with pitchforks and torches. Um, I don't know.

And then my ma ape went to the SPCA and OMD LOOK AT THESE SCARY THINGS!!??!?!

And my ma ape had an inflatable black cat. Really? Am I supposed to be scared of this thing? Who would be stupid enough for that?

Oh right.

And then? Mmmm. Candy. Not for dogs. We had bones!

And then my ape turned into a zombie.

So I ate her brains before she could eat mine.

And then it got REALLY scary when the World Series started and the Yankees won! NNOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Oh the humanity!

Help us out, Vice President! Unless that is Zombie Joe Biden! Oh no! (Zombie Joe Biden, please eat A Rod)

Scenes from the Fourth of July

Holes were dug.

Games were played.
Vegetables were grilled.

And eaten.
Balls were chased.

And caught.

Corgadors were adorables.

Tongues were stuck out.

Ice cream was made.

And frozen.
And munched upon.
And a new monkey stick!
