MARCH MADNESS! (In April)

Editors:  We have agreed to let Edgrr blog lest he become insufferable trying to convince us to blog about this.  We apologize in advance.

A site I read all the time to keep up with the ladynews, JEZEBEL, hosts MARCH MADNESS! Last year it was Cake v. Pie with Cheesecake winning for PIE in a  CONTROVERSIAL victory (it's called a CAKE but it has a CRUST!). But this year it was CATS v. DOGS.  Oh yes.  I enthusiastically checked my bracket every every day.

And I followed the heartbreaking losses (pit boos defeated by Goldens--WTF? Mutts lose to Dachshunds?) But the final outcome was PERFECT!

And DO YOU SEE??  ONE DOG TO RULE THEM ALL!  I know that I am enshouterating but this makes us kings of the WORLD!

Look!  I collapsed after the big win and stopped moving for 5 seconds which is a record for me!

You can see why we are MOST AWESOME.  I don't just own the toys I OWN THE BUCKET.

And you better believe THE APES ARE ALL MINE.

Ain't afraid of no pit boos!

Ain't afraid of no peppy sheppys!

And I might get knocked down.

But you better believe I get right back up and HUMP IT!

And Otis's girlfriend Mesa was kind enough to recognize my AWESOMENESS by sharing this!

To conclude:

(And just in time for the government shutdown!  LOOK OUT! WE'RE TAKING OVER!)

The Wolf In Me

I know that I am one foxy dude.

But it turns out that my legs are a dead giveaway for my TUFF GUY ORIGINS. My legs come from WOLVES. SCIENCE has declared it is so! Unlike my BO-RING sibbies who are regular ole dogs, I have a special wolf gene! Read about it here!

Here you see my wolfy side coming out as I hunt the wild hosta. Here's how science explains my untameability:

They found short-legged dogs all had a slightly altered extra gene that produces a growth protein called fibroblast growth factor 4 or FGF4. It appears to be copy of a wolf gene that got spliced back into the dog genome some time after modern dog breeds diverged from wolves.

You better not mess with me when the moon is full! Here you see my ferocious corgipants in all their floofy glory. Wait, what is this sentence starting the story?

Dachshunds and corgis have short stubby legs because they were dealt an unlucky ticket in the evolutionary lottery, scientists say.

Unlucky??? Take that back, science!

Three Generations of Corgitude

You may not know that while the ma ape enjoys a coterie of canines in a variety of sizes and shapes she is a long time corgador fancier. Before she had me, Edgrr the half corgador, she had Wally THE corgador, and before that Conan the half corgador. Let's take a look, shall we?

This is Conan the Corgbarian, our ma ape's first dog. Our GranNE was most kind to scan pho-tos of him for our ma ape to show off. Our ma ape's GranNE and Gramps were also most kind to get our ma ape a corgi after she researched breeds and picked out the corgi. He is our ape's only dog purchased from a breeder, a lovely lady who showed corgis (including Conan's dad who was a pageant boy) and competing in herding (Conan was more involved in Human Resources.)

Our ma ape jokes that Conan was GranNE and Gramps' favorite child as he was the most good-looking and by far the most intelligent. (Don't tell her that it's not a joke.) He was known for his love of havarti and braunschweiger, his excellent work managing the human herd, and his most adorable of faces.

You know this guy! WALLY! He started this blog and was kind enough to bequeath it to his bratty sheppy siblings. He is ma ape's only purebred corgador (thus far). He was from a rescue in Snoqualmie, Washington. West Coast boy! Wally IS the breed standard for the corgador, requiring a big kissable head, adorbs stumpy legs, expressive face

And roaching mastery!

And now I join this illustrious line of short-legged, bossy, nosy, food-loving, naked ape manipulating, spoiled bestiary! I'll make you proud, Grandpas Conan and Wally!

Now, you should ask your apes to leave the room while I share a secret with you. You should be alerted to the reality that half-corgadors are TAKING OVER THE WORLD. Oh yes, we are remaking the world.

In our image.

Viva La Revolucion!

About EDGRRRRRRRR

It is about time those olds let me blog! I have a lot to say ALL OF THE TIME. Here is a good picture of me. It is good because I am one little busy bee and I like to stay in motion. Buzz buzz. Let me buzz about my name.

Now you may be curious about the name Edgrr, especially as it was not on your menu of options. It was suggested by Ms. Sophie Brador who thinks knows I am cute as a button. LOOK! I am intense! (And slightly wonky eyed)

OK, GraNE suggested the name Owen Meany from this book because Owen was a sassy little dude AND his character was a reference to another literary little dude.

This one! The little boy from The Tim Drum with the voice that could shatter glass. And do you know what his name is?

OSSSSSSSSSSSSCAR!

So Owen Meany was perfect! But O-wen sounded a little bit too much O-tis. So when the ape said Oooooooo-wen!

Otis came running and I didn't! (The latter part is more about my inherent naughtiness and less to do with the name). So we went back to the drawing board and....

I'm kind of a talkative fellow.

So bossy I can command TWO sheppys at once!

And when I play and I'm happy I make a constant RRRR RRRR RRRR noise! And thus was ED GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR born! All around tuffy.

Occasional vampire (non-sparkly).

And all the time Otis admirer!

And now balance has been restored to the force! There are two EEEEEs and two OOOOOs.

Shocking Saturday! (Warning: Adult Content)

I know that everyone thinks the baby is all cute and sweet but I have to tell you that, in the words of our national poet laureate Britney Spears, he is not that innocent.

You don't want to know what is going on under the cone.

And it gets WORSE!
I called for back-up!

But OBST just watched.
Poor poor pittie.

P.S. Have you voted to name the baby yet? Look at the post below and help us out! But NO you may not name him Casanova, Don Juan, or Playa. Thank you.

A Potus Proposal: Name the Baby!

Helloooo! It's the Potus here. I have come up with a back-up plan for in case you-know-who moves in. I heard that Lou Paw-nella resigned as manager of the Cubs.

And I think that I not only resemble him but I look mighty cute with a Cub. Put me in, coach!

And now on to other things, here's the lil' dude with his new cone which he happens to think makes him look most handsome:

He also is quite industrious in learning new and creative ways for using it. As a sheppy shark deflector:

And ice cream scoop:

And an all-purpose irritant. (This is payback for when OBST got neutered and he bruised the ma ape up with his coney head.)

We need some help bestowing a moniker upon the wee one and would like some help. We would like you to vote in the comments. Your choices are:

  • a) Rufus (means red-haired and is the name of this guy and this guy.) Bonus: We can call him Rufus the Doofus.
  • b) Percy (funny snooty British name suggested by Mr. Joe Stains). He is also apparently a train on Thomas the Tank Engine who is cheeky and annoys the bigger train. It also ends in "y" like Wally, the original corgador).
  • c) Make your own suggestion!
Thank you for your help!

Not a Fair Fight

Ethel and I have been fighting the good fight for common sense and reason. NO PUPPIES. We of more advanced age do not need a young whippersnapper nipping at our heels. But how are we supposed to contend with THIS???

I might as well give up the snuggle ball now. Sigh.

P.S. These photos give the misleading impression that the pupster spends a great deal of time sleeping and not being a little busybody. This is not an accurate accounting of his time.
