Three Generations of Corgitude

You may not know that while the ma ape enjoys a coterie of canines in a variety of sizes and shapes she is a long time corgador fancier. Before she had me, Edgrr the half corgador, she had Wally THE corgador, and before that Conan the half corgador. Let's take a look, shall we?

This is Conan the Corgbarian, our ma ape's first dog. Our GranNE was most kind to scan pho-tos of him for our ma ape to show off. Our ma ape's GranNE and Gramps were also most kind to get our ma ape a corgi after she researched breeds and picked out the corgi. He is our ape's only dog purchased from a breeder, a lovely lady who showed corgis (including Conan's dad who was a pageant boy) and competing in herding (Conan was more involved in Human Resources.)

Our ma ape jokes that Conan was GranNE and Gramps' favorite child as he was the most good-looking and by far the most intelligent. (Don't tell her that it's not a joke.) He was known for his love of havarti and braunschweiger, his excellent work managing the human herd, and his most adorable of faces.

You know this guy! WALLY! He started this blog and was kind enough to bequeath it to his bratty sheppy siblings. He is ma ape's only purebred corgador (thus far). He was from a rescue in Snoqualmie, Washington. West Coast boy! Wally IS the breed standard for the corgador, requiring a big kissable head, adorbs stumpy legs, expressive face

And roaching mastery!

And now I join this illustrious line of short-legged, bossy, nosy, food-loving, naked ape manipulating, spoiled bestiary! I'll make you proud, Grandpas Conan and Wally!

Now, you should ask your apes to leave the room while I share a secret with you. You should be alerted to the reality that half-corgadors are TAKING OVER THE WORLD. Oh yes, we are remaking the world.

In our image.

Corgadors in the House!

Look what my lady Sam found!!! This is Quickdraw who is at Best Friends. He even has a little dignified grey chin like me! Oh, I hope Sam doesn't fall for him...

But this reminds me--don't forget the Five (now Six!) Happy Hounds are having a PAWTY for Best Friends (like my bud here) on Friday!

I'm so excited that I'm taking extra naps so I will be rested and ready to get down!

We are Many

So this week I have been deluged (ok, I've gotten two) with reports of corgadors taking over the world (or in two different locations).

From Sophie, currently visiting Pawston, is THIS lovely lady who they call a bassador but--as you can see--she looks an awful lot like me. Ie, she is BEAUTIFUL!

And this hottie is in Mini-apples-us. I don't think the state of Mini-soda is sideways but I couldn't turn the picture upright. My REAL WORLD friend KT saw this dog (actually a golden/corgi mix) and had to have a friend snap a cell phone photo because that is the lure of the corgador!
Corgadors of the world--UNITE!

Size matters.

So...I was chattin' with my good friend Rene who told me that he showed my blog to a friend of his and after looking at my pictures she was SHOCKED to hear that I'm a corgador. Because from my pictures she thought I was a....

wait for it...

MASTIFF!

Yes, we now have definitive proof that the camera captures my REAL size.

My ma ape will try to tell you that this photo gives you a good sense of size relative to my sissy but what she won't tell you is that this movie is about my sissy!

So I'm still totally mastiff-sized. No, really.

An Honorary Title

I have never done this before but I do believe Jon Stewart, in this clip from The Daily Show, has earned the title of Honorary Corgador:

Springfield, Nebraska.

The Simpsons movie did a contest on the USA Today (America's flagship newspaper) to determine which Springfield in America would be the location of the movie premiere. Springfield, VT won.

My ma ape wanted it to be Springfield Nebraska not only because SHE is from Nebraska but because her first dog, a corgi and the precursor to the CORGADOR, was from Springfield!

This is Conan the corgi:

This post was primarily an excuse for the ma ape to post a picture of Conan, I think. Yeah he's cute. Stir in a little lab and he'd be perfect, eh? Also he could lay off the eyeliner a bit.

It's a small world!

Sometimes strange things happen. This morning I had a comment on a very old post from Jeremy. My old post was about hearing a caller on Car Talk describe her laborgi from Wenatchee, Washington who had eaten their seatbelt. I was curious about her since I am from central Washington and I joked that our proper breed name is CORGADOR.

Jeremy's wife was that caller! And THAT is their beautiful laborgi Amy!

It's a small world--perfect for short legs.

Friday's Corgador

Look! This guy's name is shorty. He would like a home in the DC area.

Also, please change his name. We are not short just because we do not have FREAKISHLY long legs.

Friday's Corgadors

Some of my best friends like Miss Sunshade and Maggie have gotten new BABIES in their houses, Nanook is thinking about getting a new brother and I am worried that my ma ape has puppy fever! Sadly, I cannot make any puppies because my previous reproductive capacities were rudely stolen, a great loss for the civilized world. So I trolled Petfinder to find potential heirs. Here's what I found!

This gal is Bindi, a wee girl in North Carolina. Her coloring suggests an Aussie and her stumpy legs say CORGI.

This wee feller is Blake. His coloring looks an awful lot like mine and he has wee stumpy legs and a square-ish head. Also he looks like he's bringing the sassy back. I can get behind that.

Roo. He's Bindi's bro. I picked him out for his chubby paws! They will be useful in the future for prying away snacks from the ma ape, not because chubby paws can be used for grabbing but because when she sees them the ma ape says "oh, that's so cute" and gives snacks.

Oops! This no puppy but an old man! But we old guys got look out for one another. This smiley guy is Nolan. I could use an older, wiser pal to help raise the baby Wallies.

Let's liberate these corgadors!
