A Potus Proposal: Name the Baby!

Helloooo! It's the Potus here. I have come up with a back-up plan for in case you-know-who moves in. I heard that Lou Paw-nella resigned as manager of the Cubs.

And I think that I not only resemble him but I look mighty cute with a Cub. Put me in, coach!

And now on to other things, here's the lil' dude with his new cone which he happens to think makes him look most handsome:

He also is quite industrious in learning new and creative ways for using it. As a sheppy shark deflector:

And ice cream scoop:

And an all-purpose irritant. (This is payback for when OBST got neutered and he bruised the ma ape up with his coney head.)

We need some help bestowing a moniker upon the wee one and would like some help. We would like you to vote in the comments. Your choices are:

  • a) Rufus (means red-haired and is the name of this guy and this guy.) Bonus: We can call him Rufus the Doofus.
  • b) Percy (funny snooty British name suggested by Mr. Joe Stains). He is also apparently a train on Thomas the Tank Engine who is cheeky and annoys the bigger train. It also ends in "y" like Wally, the original corgador).
  • c) Make your own suggestion!
Thank you for your help!

Hire me!

So the University of Nebraska fired their Athletic Director for 1) hiring the worst football coach in history (other than the dude at Notre Dame--ha!) and 2) being an all-around jerk. Most exciting they brought back Dr. TOM! He won three national championships with my Hooskers in the 90s.

They have not yet fired their football coach but it's got to be coming soon. I'd like to be sure I get my resume in so I get full consideration to be the next coach of the great Nebraska Cornhuskers:

Name:
  • Wally T. Corgador
Education:
  • PhDog, School of Hard Knocks 199?-2003; Canine Good Citizen 2005.
Experience:
  • Many years yelling at the telly during football games, especially important coaching tips like "TACKLE HIM" and "GO GO GO!"
  • 4+ years as Monday Morning Quarterback
  • Invented new tackling technique called "grab the tail!"
  • Own a Nebraskan
  • Visited Nebraska once.
Special Skills:
  • Eating buffalo in large quantities at incredible rates of speed
  • Pooped on Notre Dame once (the campus, not the actual cathedral. that would be hardcore)
  • Not intimidated by Ralphie, the CU buffalo.
  • Looking devastatingly handsome in red
  • Already own the outfit
  • Would look great running out of the locker room onto the field
Please hire me! I will be the best coach EVER and I will work for Nebraska beef. With the occasional buffalo steak for a bonus.

Newfs Falling from the Sky!

Newfoundland rescue dog

My granny sent me this story about Newfs (and Labbies) working the beaches of Italy! No, not in bikinis (darn it!) but as rescue dogs, sometimes being dropped by helicopters to save those helpless humans.

Scores of specially trained dogs have been deployed as lifeguards on Italy's busiest beaches this summer.

The dogs, mostly of the Newfoundland or Labrador breeds, are trained to jump out of helicopters and boats and swim to the rescue of struggling swimmers.

They are credited with having saved several lives by taking lifebuoys to swimmers and towing them to safety.

Hmmm...I think we'd better go check this out! Nanook & Pooka, the Newfs of Hazard, Dory & Mac, and Bear--let's go to Italy and find out what's going on on these beaches. Road trip! Bring your bikinis!

Dopplegangers

This morning I was reading the New York Times Online, as I do every morning, scanning for news about dogs, apes, and non-naked ape animals. And I came across this story about a dog who is a polar bear poop locator. Now, I was reading along curious about the poop. Is polar bear poop as fun to roll in as goose poop? Is it as tasty as cat poop?

Then I noticed

IT'S ETHEL!

Why is my sissy in the New York Times? Is she sneaking up to New York to track polar bears?? How can she do that when she spends most of the day in front of the window watching squirrels??

Then I noticed something:

This Ethel is a boy. BUT is he Ethel's long lost brother? Her cousin? Her pops? His name is Quinoa (tasty tasty quinoa) and he's a Dutch Shepherd. Is Ethel a Dutch Shepherd? If there's more than Ethel will they gang up on me? Could she find polar bears for me? I have plans for today. My sissy and I are going to search for polar bears. They would be a valuable addition to the Wally Revolutionary Front, scheduled to overthrow the naked apes any day now. (Also I think the polar bears would take my side against the Army of Ethels).

Will Herd for Food

My good pal Narra sent me this article from the New York Times (she likes to keep up with the news) about how they're hiring the Geese Police, border collies to chase away the geese in Central Park. Narra though maybe we could get some jobs and buy ourselves more snacks since our owners are cheapskates.

I am posting this great picture of me hard at work. Will work for food! And I won't be a camera hound like that border collie in the top picture. I don't need to pose; I'm naturally lovely.
