Dog Days

I know that SOMEONE has really been dropping the ball with the blogging. It is really shameful. So I have many things to catch you up on.

First, the weather has taken a turn for the hot and muggy which does not please the corgador. Here I am having to take a rest break on the walk home from the field. These people have Florida Gators stuff on their cars so I always poop in their yard but they also have nice dewy grass to cool my belly and my jets (just not where I did #2).

The ma ape thought maybe we would enjoy a little pool time.

But I preferred to use it as a giant dog dish.

And my ma ape has been so busy she forgets to feed us (not really. We NEVER let her forget). Here I am after helpfully pulling the snacks out of the grocery bag on the floor. I said "Gimme a hand ma ape. Open this package and I'll feed myself." My ma ape did not find my efforts as helpful as I did. She said I had chutzpah showing her my pilfered goods.

Do you guys remember big ole Hercules from the SPCA? He had heartworm and was one skinny lab mix.

Well, he's feeling a lot better. Especially since he has TOYS.

My ape has been going all gushy over him which brought out my jelly. Until my friend Narra sent me something that I think is an excellent idea.

Mini-sulkies! (My ma ape says when I am on a die-t I am a mini sulky.)

I could have the Herc pull me around, especially on those hot days, and I'd never have to worry about keeping up with the peppy sheppys! Mush Mush!

Half a Corgador in Need!

UPDATE: My ma ape contacted the owners of this dog with info about area rescues and they said they have gotten lots of good options so we're just hoping that they choose a good option (ie, new home!) and not a bad option (euthanasia). My ma ape was sure to let them know that 7 is not so old! I was 7 or 8 when I adopted her, after all!
A dog in need is a friend indeed.

My ma ape got an e-mail that the owners of this supersweet 7-year old lab named Lenny are going to have him euthanized if they can't find a home for him because they can't find an apartment that will take him. If you are interested please e-mail me asap! We can even help transport him if you're not in the Delaware area! He loves to swim and is good with kids. He's fully vetted! Please help!

Hanna is here!

I am bracing for winds! Tropical Storm Hanna is in the House! Um, not literally. But it is rainy and windy. But there WILL be SPCA Saturday once the ma ape dries out. I swear.

I will keep busy reading this article that my GranNE sent me about a dog with THIRTEEN golf balls in his belly! His apes said "He finds golf balls like truffles."

Here's the golfball eatin' goof. His name is...Oscar! (Fortunately not my Oscar.)

Newfs Falling from the Sky!

Newfoundland rescue dog

My granny sent me this story about Newfs (and Labbies) working the beaches of Italy! No, not in bikinis (darn it!) but as rescue dogs, sometimes being dropped by helicopters to save those helpless humans.

Scores of specially trained dogs have been deployed as lifeguards on Italy's busiest beaches this summer.

The dogs, mostly of the Newfoundland or Labrador breeds, are trained to jump out of helicopters and boats and swim to the rescue of struggling swimmers.

They are credited with having saved several lives by taking lifebuoys to swimmers and towing them to safety.

Hmmm...I think we'd better go check this out! Nanook & Pooka, the Newfs of Hazard, Dory & Mac, and Bear--let's go to Italy and find out what's going on on these beaches. Road trip! Bring your bikinis!
