The Story of the First Thanksgiving

This is the first thanksgiving. Our first thanksgiving without Wally, who was a big fan of the pawliday. (Read about it here). And our first thanksgiving with two newcomers in a new land, Otis and Edgrr. We thought we would share with you the story of The First Thanksgiving.

Oscar and Ethel had lived in the New World for a long time (like decades in dog years!) and they welcomed newcomers, even these new arrivals with their strange was and most unusual colors. But these newcomers were ALWAYS hungry and needed many foodables to sustain themselves. And so a feast was prepared to welcome them to their new world!

Quails! With pumpkins, green beans, and sweet potatoes, the bounty representative of our native foodables, grown (bought) in the native soil (Trader Joe's).

And a bounty for all the dogs! Even the lil' ones who had a hard time with their birds.

Now let's give some thanks!

Ethel gives thanks for tennis balls, girls nights out, meatables, for being a girl, and for closets to hide from her brudders.

OBST gives thanks for being a perpetual teen queen, for brudders who let him put them in his mouths, for foodables of all sorts, for ma apes to cling to, and for patient apes.

Otis gives thanks for snuggle balls, foodables of all sorts, for wallymelons, for the SPCA, for naps, for giant heads and the apes who cannot resist them.

Edgrr gives thanks for toetoes to bite, for granNEs who love corgis, for brudders to annoy, for all kinds of foodables, and a yard to do zoomies in.

Happy thanksgiving! Don't forget to give your shout outs!

You Say It's my Burpday!!!!

Burpdays are the Best Days!
Link
Six years ago TODAY a lady showed up at Three Rivers Rescue in Snoqualmie Washington (that's where they filmed the intro to Twin Peaks. And yes, I'd like a slice of cherry pie, please. And that fish from the percolator). And I adopted that lady!
Link
Gus asked how old I am and the answer is, a lady never tells. But they thought I was eight at my rescue. My ma ape isn't sure I was that old but it's hard to tell because I have always had British teeth. And now I'd like to show you my burpday!

First we went to the field and it was RAINING. Of all the nerve!

But I still taught the peppy sheppys a thing or two! And then we came home for STEAKS!

Eat steak, eat steak, eat a big ole steak!

And then my ma ape said that we could go outside (for better light) to open my BIG BOX from GRAMMIE! The sheps offered to help!

But no way Jose am I sharing!

It was ALL great stuff! Apes Apes Apes! I tried to bribe my ma ape with the lovey ape but she said no re-gifting and I didn't want to give it to her anyway.

But look at the best part! Grammie knows me!!!! It's WALL-E! With WALL-Y!!!!

This is the greaterest, Grammie! Thank you so so much!

Then my buds Narra, Jacks, Tuchuck, Rousseau, and Tanner sent over their ape and I was like, oh yawn, an ape (cuz apes are pretty boring) but then he brought me a BAG from CANANANANADA and while it did not have Sophie or Lola in it, it DID have special Canadian snacks smuggled across the border!

As you can see, they are TAS-TY! They are elk snacks that look like elk poo! YUM.

I had many wonderful burpday wishes from my friends including Lenny who sent me a loverly card and Stan who made me some hi-larious art over at his place!

And Marvin wrote me a pome!

A Burpday Verse for Wally from Marvin:

"Wally, dear Wally, has a burpday coming up,
Wally, dear Wally, our dearest blogging pup.

How I wish him all the very best across the miles,
Lots of burpday gifts and lotsa smiles.

Many tasty eatables, meatables and a tennis ball,
For in our Hearts, dear Wally will always Walk Tall..........

All this burpdayin' has made me very tired so I'm going to get some beauty rest (once I'm done with my Canadian tastyables!) Thank you to everyone who sent me wonderful burpday wishes and, of course, to Grammie who united me with Wall-E! I am the luckiest dog in the world.

Zzzzzzzzz....

Meaty Matters

My ma ape showed me this article called "Rethinking the Meat Guzzler" in the New York Times. I was VERY excited because I thought "meat guzzling! I could be eating meat without chewing? That will save me a lot of time." Turns out it's about how our meat producing processes are not very efficient and use a lot of energy. If everyone reduced their meat consumption by 20% it would be the energy-saving equivalent to everyone driving a Prius (one of those hybrid cars). I told my ma ape that I am already meat efficient because I eat meat but I don't let her eat meat. But she convinced me that if I want to do my part I should cut my meat consumption by 20%. Being a civic minded guy I agreed to cut back on the meatable eatables.

And then this morning I woke up and realized; she just tricked me into going back on my diet. I've been had, my friends. I've had the wool pulled over my eyes. Duped. Bamboozled. Hoodwinked. And by my own ape.

(M)eat another day!

Last night this is how I looked:

But today is a new day and we look like this!

Why so happy? Well, it is still world cup soccer time so I played a little footie first thing in the morning: (Isn't this photo all arty farty. Or just poorly lit.)

And then we went in the outside to have BONES. From piggies.

Tasty! Yes, I am squinting in my photos. Maybe the sun was too bright. Maybe I was hung over. I'll never tell.

My sissy ate hers REALLY FAST.

And then we got to go play in the outside field!

Who do you think is faster? Ethel?

Or the Woober?
And here I stop to gaze at the Cornfield that was recently trampled. What a metaphor for the fate of the Cornhuskers.

Eh, they'll live to play another day. Just like us! Who could be sad on Randay?

P.S. Thanks to Suki Sumo who posted about HER foodables to cheer me up! Thanks my puggy friend!

Wally's Ark

It has been raining for 40 days and 40 nights (give or take) and so we have had to keep ourselves entertained. We have slept at least 20 hours a day (nothing new there) but have also found exciting things to do in the dry indoors. Many of these things have involved RAMPAGING.

I even got SO DESPERATE for entertainment I tried to read one of my ma ape's books. BOOOOO-RING!

My sissy practiced yacking faces:

And I decided, in a tribute to Old Noah, I would eat two of every animal! Or at least two of every animal in our freezing box. I am starting with the beefable.

This steak has a built-in boneable! We are having an indoor pic-i-nic because it is too damp outside to eat and if we eat in the kitchen we rub our meatables all over the floor and my ma ape has to clean up after us--ha!

I'd better get to eating because the sun is coming out.

Dining With Al

Yesterday we had to have breakfast with Al Fresco. My ma ape said that when we eat our rabbit we take it out of our bowls and slop it all over the kitchen so we have to eat in the outside with this Al dude. Here I am waiting patiently.

Hurry up, Al! I'm starving!

Breakfast in the outside! You can see I'm going straight for the rabbit butt in my bowl but I also have brothables and fruitables and vegetables and even my pillables in there!

Sissy LOVES rabbit.

She loves it so much she ate SO FAST that she had TWO rabbit butts and I only had ONE butt and she ate both of hers before I ate mine and then she tried to STEAL MINE! If she keeps up this thievin' she's going to be a Stealers fan like Joe Stains.

But I held on to my eatables!

And I worked it!

Breakfast is hard work. I'm going to need a nap after this.

My ma ape got our rabbitables and our meat tubes (more on those later!) from this place called Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow (they're not gone, they're in my belly!). They sent us 30 pounds of meatables! They raise tasty meatables without antibiotics and growth hormones and various things that might turn us into hulking beasts. I highly recommend their meatables but hide them from stealin' sissies!

Wally Vs. Gristle

Warning: graphic meat eating content below.

I am not only a refugee in the garden, I am also the master of the meatables. Watch here as I battle the mighty gristle on my meaty bone.

Rip it to the right.

Tear it to the left.

Try old fashioned intimidation.

The gristle has won.
