When GranNE came to town!

Our GranNE came all the way from NE to visit us!  It was the most awesome ever because she feeds us wallymelon and lets us play outside and tells me how sweet we are and how bossy Edgrr is!  We followed her around like the Pied Piper of Woodsman Drive.

Our ma ape is super mean and made GranNE work in the yard like the whole time.  She was very lucky that we helped her and we're pretty sure that she could not have done it without our heaping helping of help.  See?  So much help.

GranNE put down lots of mulch and planted lots of plants and even accidentally planted one pit boo.  We will have to see how big he gets!

And our ma ape ordered 2 cubic yards of mulch to be dumped in our driveway. It did not help the driveway grow much so our GranNE helped us put it in the garden.  And look--sheppy camouflage!  (Otis is putting down roots back there!)

And GranNE helped us start a privacy hedge so that we don't bark at everything that walks by and so that mean kids don't taunt us through the fence.

Edgrr tried to help from the other side of the fence.  He's just a baby and he doesn't know how to help like we do.

He mostly just lounged around while the rest of us work:

Look! GranNE gave us a smoke tree!  Thanks GranNE!  Since they legalized medicinal marijuana in Delaware this will come in handy!* (*Not that kind of smoke tree. -ed.)

Our GranNE did get a day long furlough to go to Philly to see some art and eat some ducks and stand by a goat.

She also met this unusual dog but she said we're way cuter.

GranNE also shared a lot of loves with us, even annoying Edgrr.

But we all know who her favorite is!  I am a very anxious boy but I love my GranNE so very much.

In fact, Nebraska is having bad bad floods right now and their nuclear plants are flooded so I think she should just stay with me and be my full time GranNE Nanny.  For her safety, not for me. Oh no, I am thinking only of her.

Come back soon GranNE!  Next time you can just spend all your time loving on me instead of on all those plants!

HAPPY BURPDAY GRAN-NE!

Guess who is having a BURPDAY!??!? It is our GRAN-NE! That's her on the left. She's with Gramps and their first dogs BAD and WORSE. She has always been a good friend to dogs so we wanted to make a post just for her! Plus, what would her birthday be without greetings from her favorite furry grandchildren? Our GranNE is a connesieur of many things including being an expert yogatician. Here she is showing her mad balancing skills last summer when she visited us and forgave OBST for being a jerk at first.

We did a good job supervising! (Look, Wally is helping!)

I am ready for you to come visit and lead a Doga class. I am already quite good at Dead Bug and the Corpse Pose as you can see!

Our GranNE is also a MASTER GARDENER! Here is her Toad Lily! (We didn't even know toads grew on bushes!)

We know our GranNE loves hostas so here I am picking one for her! Oh I am so sweet.

She also enjoys occasionally sampling Belgian Ales such as these!

And here is a beautiful Belgian Shepherd!

And here is Otis's Drunken Hippo face!

Have a FANTASTIC burpday GranNE! We hope you have the wonderful burpday you deserve, even if you can't be with us.

ETA! We forgot your musical accompaniment!

Housecleaning

I must warn you. This week's SPCA Saturday is EPIC. There are stories of love (a dog and his tennis balls, a beagle and his half beagle friend, and two pitties in lust) and epic battles, mostly between my ma ape and her urge to bring home two dozen dogs every week.

So while she is editing these pictures I thought I would show you some new things at my new house.

First, Grammie was worried about my yard and whether there was enough space. Barely. But here is part of it. You can see me a bit up at the top and sissy likes to sit up in the top between hostas. (And yes, that is a church behind us.)

We installed a new alarm system, as you can see, that is quite effective. Or will be so long as the burglar is a dog who comes during the hours when the peppy sheppy alarm service is awake.

While I am head gardener, I hired Oscar Bean as my assistant in charge of watering, as he is doing here.

One evening I decided to have some fun with my slug friends in the hostas so I got them all drunk. They had a rough morning:

We got some furniture, most of which has made it into the living room. Our new Oscar-sized chair:

And a love seat. We're just demonstrating how love birds might use it. We are not ACTUAL lovebirds.

And here I am sunning myself in my favorite part of the house: my porch/deck combo.

I am so behind on blogging and I still need to tell you about important things like Nebraska football, Vick Sticks, and many other important things that have slipped my mind because Twitter has given me a short attention span.

My Green Thumb

Many of you may not know that I am a MASTER GARDENER. I love all things garden. Especially the shade of the mater plants and watering the cuke leaves with my, ahem, organic water. Here is part of my garden, the part with cucumbers, okras, and jalenpeno PEPPERS. I don't like to eat the peppers but I might see if my brudder will. Just cuz.

Here is my eggplant! I have never seen a purple egg before but I'm looking forward to that omelet. Or maybe a quiche.

Maters! As you can see, my ma ape put them in crates but she crated them TOO LATE and now one of them is too big and unruly to put in a crate. Like my baby brudder! Ha!

And this is a loverly cucumber flower. The cucumber plants are CRAZY big. My ma ape is a little afraid of them. So are the okras.

I decided it would be important to impart my wisdom to baby brudder Oscar Bean so I decided to teach him the Art of Gardening.

First you have to pick an appropriate plot of ground.

Then you gently turn over the soil to make it soft enough to dig up.

Ahhhh..then you settle into the cool patch of just turned over soil and watch the ma ape sweat it in the garden.

Oscar seems to be a quick study.

My Green Thumb

Can you tell what this is a picture of?

Dog in the garden!

I got too hot chewing my bone in the outside so I decided to chill in the gardenables. Here I am peeking between pepperable leaves in the shadow of the oprahs.

Added advantage? If I get hungry I can just munch on tomatoables.

I'm so cute I don't even get in trouble.

Phhhhbt! You can't get to me, Hot Sun!

Too Hot To Handle

The title of the post sounds like it is about me but I am actually talking about the weather. It is hot, humid, and awful. Look, even my sissy who NEVER stops moving, takes it easy in the outside. Obviously so does my ma ape since the lawn needs to be mowed! She's so embarrassing.

And I have to DIG to find a comfy spot to rest. (Note: we don't actually spend all day in the outside. Far from it. We try to find respite from the heat after being out there for 2-3 minutes! Then we run inside as fast as we can and go sit in front of the fan. Ahhhhh.)

Here is something that likes the heat--our Oprah plants! (Someone asked if okras are the same as ladyfingers--yup! They are not actually the fingers of ladies, though.) And the beeables like the oprah flowers.

Oooooh. Pretty. The Oprah plants are taller than my ma ape now (which is not saying much, let me tell you).

And our maters are running wild! The mater plants have outgrown their crates and are spilling out all over. Like me, they don't like being in cratables and want to run free.

Soooo...what is the best thing for this heat? ICE CREAM, of course! And the Airedale Rescue of North Texas is having a competition that my lazy ma ape keeps forgetting about! You can read about it and enter your own picture here. I scream, you scream, get off your bum and get me ice cream, ma ape!

Caught Red Pawed!

Oh my Dog! Who is that IN the garden? Someone MOVED the little green fence with his paw..

And is making himself at home between the tomatoes and the peppers!

Who....me?

Someone must have decided that the vege-tables should get all of the shade and the damp ground.

Ethel is shocked:

Someone call Anti-Pesto:
