SPCA Saturday (Auld Acquaintance Edition!)

It has been TWO WEEKS since my ma ape could make it to the SPCA and she has been jonesin' to get her dogaboo fix. She's got a problem! Fortunately she was able to make it today and get rid of the shakes. She learned some GREAT news which was that Ruby Pitlet got adopted and also Mal and Nina--the elderly shar pei mixes everyone thought were lifers--went home with a volunteer! So it was a day to make new friends and visit with some old friends!

Here's some new! This pretty lady is Hostess. We don't know how she got her name. Maybe she is a Hostess Cupcake? She IS sweet.

And this goofy face is Lexus, a high-energy terrier mix.

And Pongo (see above description).

The terrible cameraperson did not get a good picture of this dude, Ghost, a bull terrier/pit bull mix who is hilarious and snorty.

Aaaaaand...old friends! Here's Hercules who is on his last round of heartworm treatments and will be checked next week for nasties. He's doing good, though. Lookin' good, bein' good.

And it's Drama, aka Lil' Red!

And more new friends! Look! Wee pitties like Waylon. (Don't get any ideas ma ape!) They came in with their dad, Big Blue. He had horribly infected cropped ears and had been mistreated. And these guys had chemical burns. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. So they're part of a cruelty case. His dad was totally pretty and very very sweet. Let's look at the puppies instead of dwelling on that.

And they do love a good puppy romp!

And more new friends! These guys are also a cruelty case. Their names are Cadillac and Porsche (ha!) and they play like my brudder and sister. Um, mostly. Except Cad is not neutered and he sometimes lives up to his name..

They do bitey face like nobody's business!


OK, that's more bitey butt.

And you know my ma ape is a sucker for a big head.


OH MY! It's another old friend! It's OBST's buddy Beast T. Beefcake (The Beasticle!) He went to a shelter down in So.Del but he got hookworm and was skinny so they brought him back north. Welcome back old pal!


We hope all our friends, old and new, get adopted this week!

I'm feeling a bit puckish. I'm not sure if it is my itchy stitchies OR if it was the realization that tonight is the LAST STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS EVER by W (is for Whoa Crap!). The state of the Duck is Lame! Only 357 days left in the reign of terror! The campaign begins NOW to reclaim the letter W!

Man is the Killer Ape

According to the indictment, dog fights were held at several locations in other parts of Virginia as well as North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland and New Jersey. The indictment says a purse was set for each fight, ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

The indictment also claims that in the summer of 2002, at various times, Peace, Phillips, Taylor, and Vick performed "testing" sessions at the property in Smithfield. After the testing, the indictment says, dogs that performed poorly were put to death by Peace, Phillips or Taylor. In April 2007, the indictment says, an additional "testing" session was performed by Peace, Phillips, and Vick. Afterward, it claims eight dogs were hanged, drowned and/or slammed to the ground and killed.
