Oh my Dog!

This story might give me nightmares. It's about "Class B" animal dealers who sell animals to labs for experimentation. The house is considering a bill to ban these dealers.

WASHINGTON - It’s the nightmare of pet lovers everywhere: Their beloved Fido or Whiskers gets lost, is scooped up by animal thieves, then sold to be dissected in a university research lab.

The Humane Society of the United States estimates that every year middlemen known as “Class B” animal dealers round up about 18,000 dogs and cats through flea markets and free-to-good-home ads, and then sell them to laboratories and university research labs.

In the process, it says lost pets are rounded up, too.

... An estimated 90,000 dogs and cats are bought by research facilities and veterinary schools each year. The Humane Society estimates that 70 percent comes from breeders, 20 percent come from Class B dealers, and 10 percent come from pounds.

This is terrible! Why didn't I know about this?!?

Mom says she had a cat go missing once and she never found him, even after checking all shelters and talking to neighbors. I sure hope he didn't end up like those poor babies :(

That certainly is the stuff of nightmares. Paws crossed things can be done to prevent this happening to any more animals.

Ok...don't tell Dot, but when we have thunderstorms, I have to find Mom & sit on her!

Those Class B dealers should be shoved in the cages they kept poor Buck & treated as he was. Grrrrrr.

It's so hard for me to understand HOW people can do that to a dog. I just can't comprehend doing things like that and not feeling tremendously guilty....

Having rescue dogs and helping out with rescues lets you see the darker side of the world.

It's just poop

Hug your dogs every day.

This is so sad and sickening! I can't imagine causing an animal pain and being able to sleep at night! It's just not human!
