SPCA Saturday! (Puppy Palooza Edition)

Another Saturday, another day of my ma ape whooooring around with other dogs at the SPCA! And this week there were puppies! I had a request about donating to the SPCA--if you go to their website they do have a link on the bottom right for donations. Unfortunately they don't have a way to sponsor individual dogs right now but we'll see what we can do!

This dude is Roscoe, a little lab? Terrier? mix who was a little afraid of peoples but he does warm up to you once you take him out.

This is The Duchess, a terrier mix, now with more moxie! She loooooves to play and fell in love with a nobby football. She'd make a great little athlete for an active family.

As you can see, Mia is a soccer fan! With big ears! They don't usually stand up like that; must be the infectious fun. She's gorgeous and sweet and loves to play.

And now--puppies. This litter of six puppies (2 girls, 4 boys) were found left in a box on a curb in Wilmington. They've been living at the SPCA all summer and now they're all spayed, neutered, and ready to find homes!

They have a little bit of energy.

Like enough energy to power a small country.

My ma ape especially likes these two boys wearing tube socks on their front legs.

Haha! Puppy vertigo!
And now. BIG RED! He is still there and now that a shepherd mix named Cody has been adopted, Big Red/Oscar and his friend the Other Cody are the longest residents at the SPCA. I really don't understand as he is very sweet and is surprisingly smart. See--here he is demonstrating the yoga pose Downward Facing Dog.

Big Red has perfect form! See:

And here he is teaching "Sit" to the Stuffy Sea Lion.

On another note, even though there is much better planning this time to care for animals in the path of the storm, Gustav will likely create pressure on local shelters in the Gulf Coast area because of people who had to evacuate, who have lost jobs, and who will lose homes. If you are looking for a way to help the Humane Society is taking donations for emergency services. They are also helping evacuate animals already in shelters in the area. If you are interested in helping out peoples, CNN has a list of resources.

WOW...Mia looks like she's ready for liftoff! I think that you may be on to something. Puppypower for an energy alternative.

Mom said they were doing much better for the pets this time. Saw footage of pets getting on the buses with owners (in crates) and had extra crates available.

Hi Wally: we think your ma ape is wonderful. We kinda like the lab fellow, and don't forget, black dogs often have problems getting adopted, so maybe your ma ape should take him too.

Nah.

She needs a brown or white dog for an accent piece.

Cool puppy vertigo shot. The shadow is 95% sharp but the ground blurred even in the shadow. How'd your ma ape do that?

Um, those puppies stink! Our human smelled real bad when he got home. Ew. Wally, we're really lucky none of them ended up coming home with (very) loose peoples...
