Wally Tamale Gets Serious (Sort of)

Your heart just melted, eh?

I'd like to be serious for a moment, keeping the fart jokes to a minimum. (Minimum, not zero). I have a burpday coming up on the 22nd--the big FIVE (actual age not known). It's been almost five years since I rescued my ma ape. This is very exciting and I've been spending a lot of time watching My Super Sweet Sixteen on MTV and I've learned that I need to be a total brat, buy an expensive and tacky dress, and have a big name performer. I understand negotiations with the Spice Girls broke down after they ended their tour due to creative differences (who gets the platform shoes with the fish in the sole?) So now I'm working on an ABBA tribute band.

Now, I take my burpday VERY seriously and I have every intention of partying like it is 1999 (when I likely had better hips that could take the swiveling). I've been getting tips from the Whippets who know how to throw a bash. But here's the thing. I'm a dog who has everything he needs. A home, half a dozen beds, forty-seven blankets, a heating bad, an enormous pile of stuffies, a freezy box full of meatables. I am not a dog who has everything he wants. And what I want is for every dog who has ever been homeless like I was to find a home where they are treated like the awesome dudes they are.

I was inspired by my good pal Marvin who asked on his last birthday that everyone who was thinking of giving him presents to instead give them to a dog in need. I think this is a wonderful idea. I don't expect anything for my burpday (except from YOU MA APE! PONY UP!) but if you were thinking about sending something I hope you will consider giving to a shelter or a rescue or just to a dog you know who maybe has less than he deserves. Here's some inspiration, Ms. Bobbi who is in a shelter in Yakima, Washington (where I am from!). I'm trying to convince my ma ape to drive and get her.

I, doing my part, promise to get down get down for my burpday and take lots of pictures of me celebrating and carrying on. And you are all welcome to party with me! No party poopers allowed--MA APE!

Wally, you are such a gentleman, this is why I like you so much.

I am pleased you liked my ideas for my birthday, as you so rightly say, we have everything we could possibly need, so let us hear it for the dogs who are not lucky like us chaps and chapesses!

Our local supermarket has a special cardboard kennel sponsored by the local dogs home and customers can put eatables, tinables and kibbleables bags in there for the Rescue Dogs. We will put some supplies in there, in your honour, at the weekend!

I am sorry negotiations for the Spice Girls broke down, I can just see you up there with Posh and Co, strutting your stuff!

But Abba is much more my scene too.

I look forward to partying like its 1999......or 2008 - Wally is Great!

love and many special licks, your friend Marvin xxxxx

Wally,
Happy burpday and here's to a great five years young [with your Ma Ape]! Truly, for the dog who has everything there is no better solution than to give to those in need. There are so many of us dogs out there who need a boost. In addition to some kibble, I think I might look into sending out leaflets or a series of tracts to local shelters urging political action on the part of our caged brethren. Anyway, good show!

Love,
Sid

Oh Wally...you are such a kind & considerate soul...always thinking of others...I think Ms. Bobbi would do great at your house...even though its says no small dogs...you can just eat about 57 more pounds of burpday eatables & cakeables & THEN maybe have a chance in hell of her not sitting on you w/o notice... & yes..my heart did melt at that pic of you all warm & snug in your bed...my mom/secretary said if she was with you in that pic, she'd "wrap her arms around you so tight & never let you go.." to that I said, "Back off B**ch, he's mine!"

Wally, you're such a swell guy! I think this is a great idea and plan on copying it on my Gotcha day. But just so I can do a little something special for you...I'll eat THREE chicken backs in your honor.

Grammie says, "no wonder we like Wally so much." We have family that lives in Yakima. Grammie is always giving our treat money to the local Humane Society. They are a no kill shelter. If that crazy old woman had more room I am sure she would be down there every week getting a new dog.

Look at Ms. Bobbi! She is stunning. I think you just want a live-in girlfriend.

I think your suggestion is a fantastic one! Marvin is such a smart guy to come up with such a brilliant idea.

Wally, that is very generous of you to support dogs in need. We agree...we are gonna do that on our barkdays too. Penny's is coming up on Feb. 28 so instead of presents for her, Mom is giving them to our local no-kill shelter.
