dog love

bringing sexy back.

true love.

my good buddy rene sent me this link with "pinups for pitbulls." i was really disappointed to find that it was not actually pitbull pinups, all dressed up like miss sunshade and ready to do a burlesque show. rather, it is women dressed up like pinups and posing with pitbulls which is a somewhat odd message.

apparently they're doing it to improve the reputation of pitbulls who are incorrectly slandered as aggressive and out of control dogs (rather than dogs who are unfortunate enough to have aggressive and out of control owners). it's a noble cause, though i'm also intrigued by what it means that the pitbull's aggressive rep will be tempered by posing with sexy ladies? what does this tell us about our perceptions of violence? and women?

As the founder of Pinups for Pitbulls, I would have loved to have this question posed to me, instead of finding it in a google search.

Pinups for Pitbulls gives a clear message, Pit Bull Mothers are gentle, loving, kind, and beautiful. They are not the ignorant pit bull "owner" that the media has in their head of a "dogfighter" or otherwise. They tie an image of something America has loved for a long time with something America has not fully understood, the Bully Breed. It gets attention. People are now learning about BSL and other Bully issues, including dogfighting and overpopulation. Things they would have otherwise ignored. There is nothing demeaning about any of the portraits. You can see so on the website www.pinupsforpitbulls.com
As a strong bully advocate and woman, I find it hard to believe that you'd find the images demeaning or belittling to the female race.

I hope you're willing to see this side.

xoxo

I too am for what Little Darling has done and is continuing to do for animal welfare with the Pinups for Pitbulls calender. I have the calender (signed) and will order another. I only wish there were more months in a year. So I could have more pinups to look at and more people like Little Darling.
Little Darling ROCKS!!!

Hmm, I'm not quite sure how "Pinups for Pitbulls" confused anyone into thinking it was a calendar of dogs dressed for a burlesque show rather then women dressed as pinups, but regardless, these lovely ladies adore their bully pets and are willing to pose tastefully with them to support a great cause - the bully loving charities and rescues that save them through adoption, legislation and increasing awareness of them as a wonderful breed in need of some positive attention!

As both a women's rights and animal rights activist I find this something to be applauded, not put down!

Little Darling is doing a wonderful thing and has raised thousands of dollars for rescues Nationwide. I am proud to say that I bought the calender last year and will do so again this year. She is educating tons of people about Bully issues that never would have known about such things before.

What is the difference between her calader and the Dallas Cowboys Cheearleaders??? atleast the money goes to a good cause. It raises money for animals in resucues and shelters. The name is Pinups FOR Pitbulls .... Pinup women that care about their pitbulls. Not doges dressed up as pinups. She is a women who stands up in what she beleives in. She isnt naked playing with the dogs!

I'm wondering why the original poster would rather see a pitbull than a woman dressed as a pinup girl. Hm...disconcerting a bit. There's a huge movement in America these days: women for the liberation of bully breeds AND their own sexuality. The pinup girl is American iconography, as is the pitbull. As a woman and a pitbull owner myself, it seems almost fitting for these two under-appreciated races to be pictured together. There is no measure to Little Darling's love for the pitty cause, and no stopping us all in our pursuit of educating those who perhaps don't know how to donate their time, effort, and money to the pups.I wonder what the slaughter of millions of innocent animals simply because they're of bully breed says. What does THAT say about our perceptions of violence?!!! Peace, Steph

Hi all,

Don't know how you wandered into an eight month old blog post but since I have been called both dumb and a pervert I'd like to point something out.

This is a blog written by a dog. For other dogs with blogs. So of COURSE I would want to see dogs, not ladies. Gross!

Carry on.
