Wallentine's Day

Wally's friend Ike posted this photo of Wally with a band-aid on his heart. Unfortunately it could not fix Wally's heart but I'm sure Wally would want to pass it along to all of us for our heartpain. Wally's girlfriend Randi said she was going to celebrate Wallentine's Day and I hope everyone else does too. Take a day to remember some of the happiest times and why you love your dogs so much. I wanted to post some happy memories with Wally. I picked out a little musical accompaniment, Tom Waits (with a Wally-like voice) singing a tune about two of Wally's favorite things.

This is Wally and his sister Morgan. She helped us pick out Wally and the two of them were very closely bonded. They used to go to the dog park together and she tolerated him grabbing her tail to keep her from running away from him too fast. She left us in April of 2005 but Wally always had a fondness for black labs.

The roach.

Iconic Wally.

Wallymelon!

Splendor in the hostas in the first house that was ours.

This is Wally enjoying a bone after his vet visit on Tuesday. He was not very sick until the very end and was still enjoying meatables, walks, and humping his brother until a few days before he passed.

Wally's real world besties asked for a razzie for the road. This is one of my last photos of Wally.

I love this photo. He had as much personality as his face would suggest.

This Valentine's Day be sure to, as Patience would say, hug your hounds.

Lovely photos! Iconic Wally, says it all really.

Thank you for sharing at this sad time.

"Grief is the price we pay for love"

But the sunshine does come after the rain I guess, and Wally had such a wonderful life with you, you gave him everything a dog could want or need. We are pleased to read he didn't suffer at the end.

Wally's legacy to us all, is that he was a Wise Wally, and we will truly miss his Wallyisms.

Much love, Jeannie and Marvin xxxxxx

Well, not only has Misery not been keeping up to my blog she hasn't visited any other pup's blog. Or even senior dog's blog. If it hadn't been for Facebook we wouldnt have read about Wally. [If it hadnt been for facebook we might be blogging more]

Anyway, apparently we had to wait before we could visit or she might have got soppy :( and that would never do.

We will miss you Wally, you incisive and funny posts, your great sense of humour, and underneath all, that secret softy heart.

Pippa xx

PS But please can the PSesses ie wonderful Ethel post occasionally?

Wonderful Wally memories! Thanks for sharing! I did not know about Morgan but it makes sense that his 'sister' was a black lab ;-) She was a beauty and you look so young and spry sitting there with her! When I remember Wally I remember Roaching and Rasberries (and witty political punditry of course).
I am relieved he was able to do some of the things he loved up until the end. He was one of the first pals I met in blogland and I always looked forward to his posts! He was one of a kind and will not be forgotten. I know the Peppy Sheppys will do a great job of carrying on for him.

HAPPY WALLENTINES DAY!

My mom/secretary says she's trying to smile through her tears on this Wallentine's Day - which is doubely important cuz it falls on a Randay ...UBER CELEBRATIONS are to be had!

I love the photo montage of Dear Wally....Maybe it will be possible to share montages like that from time to time...I'm sure Wally would still want us to admire his big noggin - even though he's looking down on us all...

Wallentine's Day it is, and forevermore shall be. I can't wait for all the national chains to pick up on the commercial opportunities--little Necco hearts that say "Pat me!"? Heart-shaped boxes of filled chocolates (3 fillings: liver, beef, and chicken)? Bouquet assortment of 24 bully sticks?

My mom went to a baptism this morning and got all weepy thinking of Wally and the circle of life. I think the baby's parents were a little confused as to why their child's little dip in a pool was causing her such emotion.

Happy Wallentines Day! That Randi was always some tough competition for that prized girlfriend role. Good thing Wally's heart was big enough to accommodate a few.

Love Iconic Wally! I want a blow up of that for my box, which apparently has become my brother-with-no-name's box. The sacrifices.

Dear Wally's Ma Ape and family,

We're so sorry to hear that Wally has crossed over the rainbow bridge. Our Chief had a particular fondness for his corgador self. She thought he was the cutest dog she's seen (with the exception of me that is!)

We love all Wally's happy photos. What a wonderful pictorial tribute to a adorably personable corgador!

Thank you for sharing these photos! Wally is very much missed. Some of our favorite memories of him (and you, ma ape) are the trips we took to the dog park in Seattle a long time ago now. I remember one visit when you were trying to convince me to sneak a beagle out of the park under my coat! :)
We can honestly say that Wally is one of the reasons we have our little beagle girl today. We are giving Rosie extra snuggles & belly rubs tonight. Much love to you all.....
